I’m Hakan

Brief History

My journey in the U.S. began at the University of Alabama, where I studied Aerospace Engineering. After graduating, I landed my dream job designing mission planning and scheduling systems for NASA. Following impactful roles at US Steel and Southern Progress Corporation (a subsidiary of Time Inc.), I moved to the Washington D.C. area to launch my own company in 2002. I later relocated to San Francisco in 2010, and today, I enjoy the flexibility of working and living across diverse, international locations.

Interests

Running

My interest for running started while I was in Washington DC and my 5K runs immediately turned into Half Marathons when I moved to San Francisco. I ran my first Full Marathon in July 2019 and have committed to run the San Francisco Marathon in 2020.

Natural Language Understanding, Image Processing, Deep Learning and AI

I’m committed to continuous education and staying at the forefront of technology. As part of this journey, I completed a Data Science Certificate at UC Berkeley Extension in 2018 and an Artificial Intelligence Certificate at Stanford University in 2021.
